TATTOO
AFTERCARE

Once you leave the tattoo studio, it is your responsibility to ensure that your new tattoo is cared of. A really beautiful tattoo can turn into a disaster if the proper aftercare is not taken.

A fresh tattoo is susceptible to infection until healed and a skin reaction may be experienced to certain colours.

The healing time will vary depending upon your age, health status, general diet, lifestyle and care of the tattoo. If your immune system or your diet is poor then healing process will be prolonged.

To ensure that your new tattoo heals quickly and without problems, please read the following advice given:

  • Remove the dressing as soon as you are in a clean environment.
  • Have a lukewarm bath or shower. With clean hands and mild antibacterial soap was away any ointment, blood and/or plasma. Rinse with cold water before, but thoroughly, dabbing dry with a clean towel. Repeat twice the next day.
  • From the third day you will need to moisturise the area – this is because a scrub will form, this is the part of the normal healing process. Apply cream to your tattoo only using enough to keep it slight moist, as well as washing briefly with warm water and soap once a day. The tattoo artist will advise you of the best cream to use. Repeat until tattoo heals.
  • DO NOT PICK SCABS! DO NOT SCRATCH! Picking and scratching will cause damage and loss of pigment.
  • Yes, you can (and you should) shower with a new tattoo. It,s ok to get your tattoo wet – just don’t soak it. Avoid swimming pools, sun beds and sunbathing until the tattoo has healed.
  • After your tattoo is healed protect it from excessive heat with a minimum 30SPF sunblock. This will keep your tattoo vibrant for years to come.
